1300MWh! Huawei signs contract for the world's largest energy storage project

[1300MWh! Huawei Digital Energy and Shandong Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. have successfully signed the energy storage project of Red Sea Metro in Saudi Arabia, which is by far the largest energy storage project in the world and the largest offline energy storage project in the world with an energy storage scale of 1300MWh. it is also the largest off-grid energy storage project in the world.

According to sources from Huawei, the 2021 Global Digital Energy Summit was held in Dubai on October 16. Huawei Digital Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huawei Digital Energy") and Shandong Electric Power Construction No. 3 Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shandong Power Construction No. 3 Company") successfully signed a contract for the energy storage project of Red Sea New City in Saudi Arabia. the two sides will work together to help Saudi Arabia build a global clean energy and green economy center.

It is reported that the energy storage scale of the project is 1300MWH, which is by far the largest energy storage project in the world, and it is also the largest off-grid energy storage project in the world. it has strategic significance and benchmarking demonstration effect for the development of the global energy storage industry.

The Red Sea New Town energy storage project is a key project listed in Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" plan, and the developer is ACWA Power,EPC general contractor, Shandong Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. Red Sea New City, located on the coast of the Red Sea, is also known as the "new generation city". In the future, the electricity of the whole city will come entirely from new energy sources.

Huawei said that so far, 137 countries around the world have committed to the "carbon neutral" goal, which will be an unprecedented large-scale global co-operation and will also create a wide range of investment opportunities in renewable energy and green infrastructure.

State media previously reported that according to incomplete statistics, the installed scale of new energy storage units in China exceeded 10GW in the first half of 2021, an increase of more than 600% compared with the same period last year. And the number of large-scale projects reached 34, 8.5 times that of last year, radiating 12 provinces across the country. According to the guidance of the National Energy Administration, the installed scale of the new type of energy storage is expected to reach more than 30 million kilowatts in 2025, which is close to 10 times that of the current new type of energy storage.

Huawei predicts that by 2030, renewable energy will account for more than 50%, and clean energy will become the main energy. in this change of the times, new energy represented by photovoltaic will become the main energy. the construction of a new power system dominated by new energy is the key to carbon neutralization. "Photovoltaic + energy storage" is the inevitable trend of future development.

Pada pukul 18.00 tanggal 25 Agustus, unit No. 3 proyek pembangkit listrik tenaga uap 3×660 MW "penggantian unit kecil dengan unit besar" milik SPIC Qinghai Provincial Investment berhasil melewati uji coba operasi beban penuh 168 jam, menandai operasi kapasitas penuh unit pembangkit listrik tenaga uap ultra-superkritis 660 MW tertinggi di dunia dengan pembakaran campuran batubara alkali tinggi rasio tinggi. Setelah proyek mencapai operasi kapasitas penuh, total kapasitas terpasangnya akan mencapai 1.980 MW, dengan pembangkitan listrik stabil rata-rata tahunan lebih dari 8 miliar kWh, sepenuhnya memenuhi kebutuhan listrik seluruh Provinsi Qinghai.
