Guoxuan Tech announced in January this year that the lithium iron phosphate battery with an energy density of 210Wh/kg has been completed, is currently in the stage of commissioning, and plans to achieve mass production by the end of this year.

Recently, Xu Xing, executive vice president of Guoxuan General Institute of Hi-Tech Industry and Research, did not disclose this news.

In January this year, Guoxuan Hi-Tech announced that the energy density of the lithium iron phosphate battery developed by the company has reached 210 Whhand kg, which is the highest known level in the industry.

According to the data provided by Guoxuan Hi-Tech, the lithium iron phosphate battery product of monomer 210Wh/Kg is a soft package cell with a size of 354 "102" and 11.8, the cell capacity of 0.33C is 55A, the voltage platform is 3.2V, the weight of the cell is 830g, and the 212Wh/Kg is calculated.

It is reported that in order to achieve 210Wh/kg energy density, Guoxuan Hi-Tech has mainly adopted three technology paths:

First, the innovation of materials science, the use of independent research and development of high-performance lithium iron phosphate cathode materials. The theoretical capacity of lithium iron phosphate cathode material is 170mAhpog, but in practical application, there is only 140mAh/g in the industry. Through a variety of technical means, Guoxuan Hi-Tech can make the gram capacity of lithium iron phosphate material reach 150mAh/g and the compaction density reach 2.4g/cc.

Secondly, high gram capacity silicon anode material was successfully applied in lithium iron phosphate chemical system for the first time.

Third, it has landed the advanced pre-lithiation technology. It is reported that the pre-lithiation technology has been developed for many years, and it is very difficult to achieve, because lithium metal is one of the most active metals, and a small amount of moisture in the air may cause lithium metal to burn or even explode. At present, the pre-lithium technology in the industry has always stayed in the laboratory stage. "the pre-lithiation technology developed by Guoxuan Hi-Tech enables the pre-lithiation technology to be truly applied in large-scale production." Xu Xing did not disclose.

According to Xu Xingwu, the lithium iron phosphate battery with a monomer energy density higher than 210Wh/kg has refreshed the 200Wh/kg record set by Guoxuan Tech in 2020. At present, it has exceeded the level of energy density of conventional NCM523 batteries and is close to that of NCM622. "but it is safer and the market application prospect is more considerable."

According to industry data, in August this year, the output of power batteries in China was about 19.5 GWH, an increase of 161.7% over the same period last year. Among them, the output of ternary battery is about 8.4 GWH, accounting for 42.9%; the output of lithium iron phosphate battery is about 11.1 GWH, accounting for 56.9%. Judging from the situation from January to August this year, the output of power batteries in China in the first eight months of this year was about 111.5GWH, of which the output of ternary batteries was 53.2GWH, accounting for 47.7%, and the output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was about 58.1GWH, accounting for about 52.1%.

In terms of installed capacity, in August this year, the installed capacity of power batteries in the Chinese market was about 12.6 GWH, of which Lithium Iron Phosphate installed was about 7.2GWh.Ternary batteries installed was about 5.3GWh.Lithium Iron Phosphate installed has exceeded ternary batteries for two months in a row.

Lithium iron phosphate has captured the favor of many hot-selling models because of its advantages such as economy, safety, cycle life and so on. At present, including Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Hongguang mini ev, BYD Dynasty series, Xiaopeng P7/P5 and other models have launched a more competitive version of lithium iron phosphate models.

Iron lithium (battery) has the natural advantages of high safety, long life and low cost. In August this year, lithium iron phosphate batteries accounted for more than three yuan, which also proved the correctness of Guoxuan Hi-Tech's insistence on generating iron lithium. " Xu Xing did not say.

It is worth noting that in addition to the Chinese market, a considerable part of Guoxuan Hi-Tech's R & D cooperation with Volkswagen and the layout of European factories are also iron and lithium products. This means that Guoxuan Hi-Tech has also begun to use Volkswagen as a platform to launch lithium iron phosphate products to overseas markets.

At the beginning of this year, Guoxuan Tech also released the JTM battery process (Jellyroll To Module, (from core to module).

According to Guoxuan Hi-Tech, JTM is an integrated manufacturing technology from the core directly to the module. JTM products adopt plastic shells made of special materials and processes, as well as more efficient and integrated group technology, which enables it to achieve the ultimate goal of directly preparing modules or battery packs from raw materials with the synthesis concept of simple design.

Guoxuan Tech said that because of the characteristics of the JTM battery, it can be easily designed and manufactured into modules of various sizes to adapt to the ever-changing battery envelope.

Xu Xingwu said at the latest event that JTM technology through standardized design and production of batteries, in the future can be combined with the power exchange mode, through intelligent AGV cars to enable users to assemble different numbers of batteries in different scenarios to save energy. In addition, with the decline of battery capacity, batteries of different capacity can be changed step by step from passenger cars to logistics vehicles, cars and energy storage products, so as to prolong the battery life and improve battery economy.

However, Xu did not say when the JTM technology will be launched.
