On August 27, 2021, Wang Xiaoshen, vice chairman of Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium Industry Co., Ltd., visited SMM for exchange and guidance. Fan Xin, CEO of SMM, and Lu Jialong, Senior Vice President, gave him a warm reception, and the two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the development of the new energy industry. Ganfeng lithium industry was founded in 2000, started from the manufacture of mid-stream lithium compounds and metal lithium, and gradually expanded to the upper and lower reaches of the industrial chain. After more than 20 years of development, the business of Ganfeng Lithium Industry has run through all important links of the value chain, such as upstream lithium resource development, mid-stream lithium salt deep processing and metal lithium smelting, downstream lithium battery manufacturing and comprehensive recycling of waste batteries. The products are widely used in electric vehicles, energy storage, 3C products, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, becoming the world's leading lithium ecological enterprises.

Today, Ganfeng Lithium Mine has resources in many countries and regions around the world, and has industrial technologies such as "extracting lithium from brine", "extracting lithium from ore" and "recovering lithium"; the production capacity of lithium compounds and metals is among the highest in the world; it has the ability of battery manufacturing and recycling, and provides complete raw material supply, battery customization and waste battery recycling for electric vehicles, batteries, electronic equipment and other manufacturers.

Layout of overseas mineral sources

Specifically, in the field of upstream resources, Ganfeng owns or controls lithium mining projects in Argentina, Australia, Mexico, Jiangxi Province, China, etc., covering rich resource types such as spodumene, salt lakes and clay. Sustainable access to stable and high-quality lithium raw materials supply.

In the field of mid-stream lithium compounds and metal processing, Ganfeng has core products such as battery-grade lithium hydroxide, battery-grade lithium carbonate, lithium chloride, metal lithium, lithium foil and lithium alloy, and has reached raw material supply cooperation with world-class car companies, battery manufacturers and pharmaceutical enterprises.

In the downstream lithium battery manufacturing and recycling field, Ganfeng battery products cover electric vehicles, energy storage equipment, consumer electronic devices, solid-state batteries and other fields, and continue to expand the waste battery recycling business to achieve the secondary utilization of resources.

Since its establishment 20 years ago, Ganfeng Lithium Industry has always taken technological innovation as the core driving force: taking the lead in China to break through the technology of directly preparing battery-grade lithium carbonate and anhydrous lithium chloride from salt lake brine, and overcoming worldwide problems such as lithium mica lithium extraction; research and development of battery-grade lithium dihydrogen phosphate, high sodium metal lithium particles and other national key new products, low magnetic battery grade lithium hydroxide, ternary material precursors and other provincial key new products.

A production base with advanced technology

By the beginning of 2021, Gan Feng had applied for 513 national patents and 267 authorized patents, presided over or participated in the drafting of 3 national standards and 16 industry standards, and undertaken more than 30 national and provincial projects such as the National 863 Program and the National Industrial Revitalization and technological Transformation Project.

In order to create a greener, cleaner and healthier living environment, Ganfeng has continued to invest in the field of lithium power, providing power battery raw materials for world-class automobile companies such as Tesla, German Volkswagen and BMW, and promoting the process of automobile electrification; apply energy storage equipment to solar and wind power generation, and replace fossil fuels with clean energy. Provide recycling services for waste batteries to avoid battery pollution by echelon and recycling; invest in lithium salt lake projects such as Mariana and Cauchari-Olaroz in Argentina to extract lithium by solar energy; introduce more kinds of clean energy such as solar energy, steam and natural gas into manufacturing and processing.

Lithium resource cycle path

After years of layout, Ganfeng has a complete lithium cycle ecology, and the resources extracted from waste batteries will be reused in the production of compounds, metals or batteries. There are more than 5000 Ganfeng employees around the world who contribute to the virtuous cycle of lithium resources in the production, processing and recycling of lithium resources.
