SHANGHAI, Aug. 11 (SMM) – The 11th G20 Summit is going to be held in Hangzhou, China from Sept. 4-5, and this will lead to operation halt at some copper producers, SMM understands.

Two large copper smelters in Fuyang, less than 50 km from Hangzhou, will suspend production for maintenance during the summit. This will affected copper output by 15,000 tonnes.

Some copper processors neighboring Hangzhou will also halt operation from the end of August to early September. And other processors will cut output ahead of schedule due to worries about logistics. But this will impose very small impact on overall copper demand as there are limited large copper processors nearby Hangzhou.
