China Manganese Ore Imports Tumble in January

China’s manganese ore imports plunged in January from December 2015, with South Africa remaining the top supplier.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 1 (SMM) – China’s manganese ore imports plunged in January from December 2015, with South Africa remaining the top supplier. 

Customs data showed China imported just 1.08 million tonnes of manganese ore in January 2016, down from 1.57 million tonnes in December 2015.

Imports from South Africa – still the top supplier to China – were 378,538 tonnes in January, down from 474,221 tonnes in previous month. Imports from Australia, the second largest supplier, were 327,783 tonnes, also down from 472,570 tonnes in December 2015.
