[Steel Billet] Domestic billet export FOB prices held steady today, with Jiangyin Port quotations at $460–465/mt. According to market research, domestic steel mills currently show a strong intention to hold up prices given cost pressure, and some exporters are not considering taking billet export orders. Coupled with the slow recovery in overseas demand, overall transactions remained mediocre.

Indonesian coal producer PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) said the eruption of Anak Krakatau had not significantly affected its mining areas. Daily production remained on schedule, while coal logistics and shipments continued normally. The company is monitoring conditions and will adjust operations if necessary to ensure safety.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s September 2026 Short-Term Energy Outlook forecasts U.S. electricity generation to grow by 2.2% in 2026 and a further 1.7% in 2027, primarily driven by data center development and increased manufacturing activity. However, coal’s share of generation is projected to fall from 17% in 2025 to 16% in 2026 and 14% in 2027. Solar and wind shares are expected to increase, while natural gas remains at 40%.
