[La consommation d'électricité des services de recharge en Chine bondit de 56,9 %]

Selon une conférence de presse tenue par l’Administration nationale de l’énergie (NEA), au premier semestre de cette année, portée par le développement rapide des industries de haute technologie telles que les véhicules à énergies nouvelles et l’intelligence artificielle, la consommation d’électricité dans le secteur des services de recharge et d’échange de batteries et dans le secteur des services de données internet a fortement augmenté, atteignant respectivement 81,0 milliards de kWh et 49,4 milliards de kWh, en hausse de 56,9 % et 44 % en glissement annuel. Ensemble, ils ont contribué à hauteur de 0,9 point de pourcentage à la croissance de la consommation totale d’électricité de l’ensemble de la société.

The Maryland Public Service Commission held a public hearing on Round 1 of the Next Generation Energy Act, reviewing four transmission-connected battery storage proposals totaling 1,240 MW. The projects include the 500 MW / 6-hour Oystercatcher Energy Storage Project, the 300 MW / 4-hour Fourth Quarter BESS Project, the 400 MW / 4-hour Chalk Point Storage Project, and the 40 MW / 4-hour Jade Meadow III Battery Storage Project. The Commission is expected to issue decisions on Energy Storage Capacity Credits by October 1, 2026. This proceeding represents one of the most significant state-level storage procurement processes in the U.S. this year and could establish precedent for how transmission-connected storage is valued and compensated in the PJM region.

Georgia Power Completes 49.5 MW Moody Battery Facility to Boost Storage and Solar Integration
Georgia Power has completed construction of the 49.5 MW / 198 MWh Moody Battery Facility located outside Valdosta, Georgia. The project adds to the utility’s growing battery storage portfolio as it manages increasing solar penetration on its system and addresses peak demand requirements. The four-hour duration configuration aligns with Georgia Power’s resource planning and IRP objectives, which emphasize storage as a cost-effective alternative to peaker plants. Completion of the Moody facility demonstrates the utility’s execution capability in delivering regulated storage assets and provides operational experience that will inform future procurement rounds. The project will participate in Georgia Power’s resource adequacy and ancillary service markets.

Veolia has been selected to operate and maintain a 350 MW microgrid powering an AI data center campus in New Albany, Ohio, which includes a 430 MWh battery energy storage system. The project highlights the convergence of AI-driven data center load growth and behind-the-meter / front-of-meter storage deployment. As hyperscalers seek reliable, low-carbon power for AI training and inference workloads, integrated microgrids with large-scale BESS are emerging as a preferred solution. Veolia’s selection as O&M provider reflects the growing need for specialized asset management expertise in complex hybrid systems. The project also illustrates how AIDC-related demand is becoming a tangible driver for U.S. storage deployment beyond traditional renewable pairing applications.
