As US states began legislating to regulate plug-and-play PV technology, the industry is showing a growth trend. As of May 15, 2026, Utah, Virginia, Colorado, Maine, and Maryland had officially passed legislation allowing residents to use plug-and-play PV systems (also known as balcony PV). These compact, portable power generation devices can be plugged directly into household electrical circuits, providing a new pathway to access renewable energy for residents who cannot install rooftop PV or participate in community PV programs, particularly renters and apartment dwellers.

At the just-concluded SNEC exhibition last week, the hall layout saw a historic shift: the number of energy storage themed halls surpassed that of solar cell and module halls for the first time, and "PV+ESS integration" has moved from concept to the spotlight.
