[SMM Steel] AMNS commissions new automotive steel line in India

[SMM Steel] ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has launched a new production line at Hazira, Gujarat, to produce advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) for the automotive sector. The line has 2 mln t capacity and is part of a $6.31bn expansion, aiming to boost domestic supply and reduce import reliance.

[SMM Steel] US crude steel output rises WoW and YoY in early May

[SMM Steel] American Iron and Steel Institute reported US crude steel production at 1.856 mln net tons for the week ending May 2, 2026, up 1.4% WoW and 9.6% YoY, with capacity utilization at 80.4%. Year-to-date output reached 31.405 mln net tons, increasing 6.2% YoY, with utilization at 77.9%, indicating continued solid production momentum.
