Iran Vows to Control Strait of Hormuz, Citing US Military Threat to Regional Security

The Secretariat of Iran's Supreme National Security Council issued a statement saying that US military bases in the Gulf region, whose primary supplies are maintained through shipping via the Strait of Hormuz, pose a threat to both Iran's national security and regional security. In light of this, Iran will continue to supervise and control the passage through the Strait of Hormuz until hostilities are completely ended and a lasting peace is achieved.
