Japan's state-owned energy agency Jogmec revealed today that it will collaborate with Canadian mining company Hudbay Minerals and Japanese trading firm Marubeni to jointly advance a non-ferrous metal exploration project in Manitoba, Canada.
Previously, Jogmec reached an agreement with project operator Hudbay and Marubeni to participate in non-ferrous metal exploration in the Flin Flon area of Manitoba. Under the agreement, Jogmec will invest 6 million Canadian dollars (equivalent to 4.3 million US dollars) for exploration activities from 2026 to 2028. Upon completion of the funding payment, Jogmec will have the option to acquire a 10% stake in the mining area and will establish a joint venture with Hudbay and Marubeni.
