【SMM Steel】Power Outages Resume in Ukraine, Ferrexpo Suspends Operations

Published: Jan 28, 2026 09:50
【SMM Steel】Swiss-based mining company Ferrexpo, which holds major iron ore assets in Ukraine, has announced the temporary suspension of its operations in the country following renewed attacks on Ukraine's power generation and transmission infrastructure, which have once again disrupted electricity supply. This decision follows the company's earlier announcement in November 2025, when missile strikes on November 8 targeted power and transmission facilities in Horishni Plavni and the nearby industrial city of Kremenchuk. At that time, Ferrexpo had already suspended production and exports at its Ukrainian mining subsidiaries. Ferrexpo stated it will provide further updates as the situation evolves.
