Horse Powertrain makes European debut at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich

Horse Powertrain, the joint venture established in May 2024 by Geely and Renault, made its first European appearance at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, held Sept. 8–12.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Horse Powertrain, the joint venture established in May 2024 by Geely and Renault, made its first European appearance at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, held Sept. 8–12. The company showcased a full lineup of next-generation powertrain solutions covering hybrid systems, range extenders, hydrogen, and alternative fuels.

Among the highlights was the global premiere of Horse's gallium nitride (GaN) range extender generator and amorphous motor technologies. Both are designed to offer automakers multiple technological pathways for decarbonization.

The company also staged a technical roadshow, unveiling an upgraded version of its Future Hybrid Concept, first shown at Auto Shanghai earlier this year. The new performance version (P1+P3 layout) measures 740 mm wide, while the ultra-compact version (P2 layout) is only 650 mm wide. Horse says the solutions can help automakers cut R&D and retooling costs by 20%, with mass production slated for 2027. A three-cylinder variant is also under development for smaller vehicles.

In the intelligent hybrid segment, Horse presented its B15 (BHE15TDB) hybrid-dedicated engine paired with the 3DHT160 e-drive system. Already deployed in the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P, the setup delivers up to 436 kW of maximum power and 905 N·m of peak torque, now entering the European market to support Lynk & Co's global expansion.

On the other hand, Horse's amorphous motor achieves peak efficiency of 98.22% with core losses reduced by more than 50%, and is slated for use in next-generation super-hybrid systems by 2027. Its GaN range extender reduces system volume and axial length by 20%, with engineering samples to be supplied to overseas customers in 2026.

Zeekr Korea Unveils Its First New Model, the 7X

Zeekr Korea unveiled the premium midsize electric SUV “7X” in South Korea and will begin full-scale sales in the second half of this year. In South Korea, the model will be offered in three trims: Pro, Max and Ultra. The Pro trim is equipped with Zeekr’s self-developed 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) “Golden Battery.” The Max and Ultra trims are equipped with 100 kWh high-performance nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) batteries supplied by CATL. The Pro and Max trims each feature a single electric motor, delivering a maximum output of 421 hp and maximum torque of 45 kgf·m. Their certified driving ranges are 375 km and 483 km, respectively. The Ultra trim is an all-wheel-drive (AWD) model based on a dual-motor system, with motors mounted on the front and rear axles. It delivers up to 645 hp and maximum torque of 72.4 kgf·m, with a maximum driving range of 440 km.

[CPCA: Passenger vehicle market sales in April were 1.368 million units, down 19.4% YoY]

According to CPCA data, in April, passenger vehicle market sales were 1.368 million units, down 19.4% YoY and down 7.0% MoM; new energy market sales were approximately 817,000 units, down 6.2% YoY and up 2.4% MoM. In April, new energy market sales accounted for 59.7% of total passenger vehicle sales, up 8.4 percentage points from the same period last year. In April, BEV sales were approximately 571,000 units, up 3.9% YoY and up 2.4% MoM; PHEV sales were approximately 246,000 units, down 23.5% YoY and up 2.4% MoM. Cumulative new energy auto sales in 2026 reached 2.61 million units, down 18.4% YoY on a cumulative basis.
