Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese autonomous last-mile delivery vehicle company NEOLIX announced it was recently granted one of Chengdu's first specialized licenses for unmanned delivery vehicles, marking the start of its commercial operations in the city.

These licensed vehicles will handle short-distance logistics, primarily transporting packages from distribution centers to pick-up points. This deployment represents the first large-scale commercial use of unmanned delivery vehicles in open environments in Sichuan Province.

NEOLIX has already secured road rights for open-road unmanned vehicle operations in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Hefei, Wuxi, Shenzhen, and Chengdu.

The company's level-4 self-driving vehicles leverage proprietary full-stack technology, employing a Transformer-based BEV vision algorithm. Equipped with 12 high-definition cameras, a LiDAR sensor, and NVIDIA's Orin computing platform, which delivers 254 TOPS of computing power, the vehicles achieve 360-degree perception with a range of 120 meters, ensuring safety and stability.

In addition to technological prowess, NEOLIX excels in manufacturing. It established an L4-grade autonomous vehicle factory with an annual capacity of 10,000 units years ago and obtained multiple automotive-grade certifications. Its automated calibration system completes tasks in under 215 seconds, while its rigorous testing framework includes 175 component tests, 679 vehicle tests, and over 300,000 kilometers of durability testing. By 2025, NEOLIX plans to increase its production capacity to 30,000 units annually, achieving an average production time of one vehicle every 10 minutes.

According to Japanese media reports on the 6th, Honda is in discussions with the Canadian government to scrap its planned electric vehicle, battery and cathode material plant in Ontario. First announced in April 2024, the 15-billion-Canadian-dollar project was Honda’s largest-ever investment, targeting annual output of 240,000 EVs. Due to external policy shifts, Honda delayed production from 2028 to 2030+ last May and began re-evaluating the plan. The firm has now decided to terminate the project, citing the end of U.S. EV tax credits and delayed U.S.-Canada trade talks. The move is part of its global business restructuring. Since last November, Honda has adopted an emergency management regime to ease financial strain from heavy EV investments and weak EV demand.
