Recently, Pr-Nd prices have fluctuated frequently and generally shown a downward trend compared to the beginning of June. In June, the quotation for Pr-Nd oxide reached a high of 375,000 yuan/mt, while the lowest transaction price stood at 355,000 yuan/mt. Throughout June, Pr-Nd oxide prices experienced four rounds of ups and downs.
According to an SMM survey, current rare earth oxide prices are generally low, and rare earth ore prices also stay at a low level. Miners, facing significant cost pressures, were unwilling to sell at low prices, leading to a reduction in the shipments of rare earth ores.
As the difficulty of raw material procurement increased, upstream separation plants started to hold rare earth oxide prices firm. However, downstream magnetic material companies had insufficient orders amid weak demand, causing some industry participants to have a pessimistic outlook on future rare earth prices and to show a low acceptance of high-priced raw materials. Additionally, as China Northern Rare Earth is about to release July rare earth listing prices and Q3 rare earth concentrate prices, market wait-and-see sentiment intensified. Therefore, Pr-Nd prices gradually stabilised.
