SMM has learned that, according to a release from Lianxi District, Jiujiang, the commissioning ceremony for the first phase of Jiujiang Yunwei Lithium Co., Ltd.'s project, which has an annual production capacity of 20,000 mt of lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate, was held on the morning of May 27 at the Lianxi Industrial Park in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province.
It is reported that the project was settled in Lianxi Industrial Park in 2022, with an annual production capacity of 50,000 mt of battery grade lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate. The project will be constructed in two phases with a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan. The first phase, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 mt of battery grade lithium hydroxide, started construction at the end of 2022 and will be completed and operational by the end of May 2024. The Jiujiang Yunwei Lithium Industry project is currently the only domestic enterprise using the lime causticization process to achieve mass production of battery grade lithium salts (including lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate) at the 10,000 mt level. The products meet the technical standards of Japan and South Korea and are mainly supplied to mainstream domestic and international cathode materials manufacturers and battery makers. It has become a supplier to companies such as Volkswagen and CATL.
