At the "Invest in China" Germany Special Presentation event hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China, a German expert team has developed a complete set of high-performance and high-security solid-state sodium sulfur battery automatic continuous production process after nearly two years of research and development. This process can achieve an energy density of over 1000Wh/kg and a theoretical load capacity of up to 20000Wh/kg for the negative electrode. The process combines Germany's traditional advantages in high vacuum, fully automatic, nuclear physics, and magnetic levitation fields, and introduces new concepts such as ion printing and porous current collection, enabling the fully automatic continuous production of sodium sulfur batteries in a full vacuum environment with low cost and high production capacity. It is expected to launch equipment prototypes and battery samples by the end of 2023, have mass production capabilities by the end of 2025, and plan to collaborate with industrial funds and battery-related companies to invest in building factories in China.

Sodium-Ion Battery Midstream & Downstream Update: Electrolyte Expansion Hesitant, Cell Applications Await Breakthroughs
After both sodium-ion battery cathodes and hard carbon anodes recorded significant increases YoY and MoM in May, the midstream and downstream segments of the industry chain—electrolytes and battery cells—also delivered impressive results, yet structural issues lurk beneath the growth.

Sodium-Ion Battery Electrode Production Surges in May: Tight Capacity, Cost Pressures, Q3 Expansion Ahead
In May, key materials for sodium-ion batteries sustained their strong momentum, with both cathode and hard carbon anode recording sharp YoY and MoM growth. Top-tier players’ order books were full and capacity utilization rates approached their limits. On the supply side, the pattern of rising volumes and stable prices was pronounced, yet pressure to pass on rising raw material costs was also building.
