Nissan to produce lithium iron phosphate batteries for use in pure electric vehicles from 2026.
On January 29, according to Japanese media reports, Nissan announced that it will independently produce lithium iron phosphate batteries and strive to use them in pure electric vehicles launched in emerging countries after 2026. The lithium iron phosphate batteries produced by Nissan use lithium iron phosphate as the positive electrode material. Compared to "ternary" lithium batteries that use nickel, cobalt, and manganese, they have lower energy density and a reduced range of 20%-30%, but also a corresponding cost reduction.
