Highfield Solar, an Irish renewable energy developer, has announced the signing of the largest solar power purchase agreement (PPA) in Ireland to date with global tech giant Meta Platforms, providing Meta with 276 MW of solar power.

Under the agreement, Meta will purchase solar power from two solar power plants located in the Meath and Wexford regions by Highfield, to power its data center located in Clone. Both projects are now operational and grid-connected, initiated and invested by Highfield Solar, a joint venture between Highfield Energy Services and Aura Power.

[SMM PV News] Mexico's CRE Proposes Updates to DG Framework to Include Energy Storage
Mexico's Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has launched a consultation on proposed updates to its distributed generation (DG) framework, officially recognizing energy storage within DG facilities for the first time. While maintaining the general 500 kW limit, the draft clarifies capacity measurement (AC vs. DC) for hybrid systems and introduces stricter technical requirements for grid interconnection and impact assessments. It also updates metering and settlement rules to accommodate surplus energy from storage-equipped setups. In a broader push for renewables, President Claudia Sheinbaum unveiled a 2025-30 expansion plan in February, targeting 13.02 GW of new power capacity over six years, which includes 4.67 GW of solar PV projects backed by a $4.9 billion investment.

[SMM PV News] India’s Solar Cell ALMM Capacity Reaches 29.9 GW Ahead of June Implementation
With the recent additions, India’s ALMM List-II now features 29.9 GW of enlisted solar cell capacity. Notable updates include Jupiter Solartech increasing its total capacity to 1.77 GW and Websol Energy doubling its enlisted capacity to 1.202 GW in West Bengal. The mandatory implementation of ALMM for solar cells is set to begin on June 1, 2026. This regulatory framework is designed to bolster domestic supply chain security for government-backed projects while incentivizing Indian manufacturers to adopt advanced, high-efficiency cell technologies.

[SMM PV News] Reliance Industries Debuts HJT Cells in India’s ALMM List-II with 25.40% Efficiency
Heterojunction (HJT) solar cells have been officially included in the latest revision of India’s ALMM List-II. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) made its debut with 1.238 GW of HJT cell capacity produced at its Jamnagar complex. These 0BB (zero-busbar) cells, measuring 210 × 105 mm, boast an average efficiency of 25.40%. RIL aims to scale its Jamnagar site to 20 GW of cell and module capacity, supporting its broader target of 100 GW solar deployment by 2030. The enlistment is valid from April 13, 2026, marking a significant milestone for high-efficiency technology in the Indian market.
