The CITIC Securities Research Report pointed out that in the first quarter of 2023, the sales of lithium concentrate in Australia declined, and the impact of weakening domestic consumption on the upstream sectors appeared.

Factors such as labour shortage and tight transportation continue to restrict the increase in production of lithium ore in Australia, and the high prices of lithium ore underpin lithium prices. The contraction of upstream supply and downstream stockpiling are expected to lead to a rebound in lithium prices.

PKC Makes First Shipment Of PCl₃
Korean company PKC announced that it has made its first shipment of 20 tonnes of phosphorus trichloride (PCl₃) produced at its Saemangeum Plant 1. The shipment was supplied as a paid sample for approval to a global top-tier fine chemical materials company specializing in high-performance antioxidants. The customer plans to use the material as a test feedstock in its antioxidant production process and begin full-scale quality verification. PKC’s phosphorus trichloride (PCl₃) and phosphorus pentachloride (PCl₅), which are being mass-produced at Saemangeum Plant 1, are key raw materials used in secondary battery electrolytes and fine chemical products.
