BHP and Chinese Copper Producers to Jointly Develop New Copper Smelting Technologies and Innovative Applications

SHANGHAI, Mar 28 – BHP signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with two Chinese copper producers, China Copper Co., Ltd. and Daye Nonferrous Metals Group Holdings Co., Ltd.

Through this cooperation, all parties will continue to explore development opportunities, jointly develop new technologies and innovative applications that are closely integrated with copper smelting and refining processes, and share relevant insights.

The focus of cooperation includes the use of low-carbon fuels, improving thermal and energy efficiency, and reducing emissions Intensity and low-carbon recycling of waste slag, dust, waste water and dirty acid, and digitalisation of copper value chain processes to improve the measurement, verification and reporting levels of the entire industry chain.
