ECB: Inflationary Expectations for Next Three Years among Consumers on the Rise despite Falling Energy Prices

The recent interest rate hikes and lower energy prices have yet to allay concerns about price growth in eurozone.

The inflationary expectations among consumers in eurozone rose again in December last year, a survey by the European Central Bank (ECB) showed, suggesting that the recent interest rate hikes and lower energy prices have yet to allay concerns about price growth.

It is reported that the inflation rate in the eurozone peaked at over 10% in October last year, but has dropped rapidly along with fall in natural gas prices, the inflation rate has been falling rapidly

According to a survey of about 14,000 people in the six largest countries in the eurozone, the median value of inflationary expectation among consumers for the next three years rose to 3% in last December from the previous print of 2.9%. But the forecast for the next 12 months held steady at 5%.
