SHANGHAI, Oct 31 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 31.64 million mt in the week ending October 30, an increase of 39.6% week-on-week.
The shipments from Australia rose 26.2% on a weekly basis to 18.31 million mt, of which 16.42 million mt or 89.7% went to China. The shipments from Brazil rose 82.5% on a weekly basis to 7.94 million mt, of which 7.65 million mt or 96.2% went to China.
The four major mining companies shipped a combined 22.76 million mt of iron ore last week, an increase of 4.5 million mt from a week earlier.
A total of 26.58 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, up 62.8% week-on-week.
