SHANGHAI, May 24 (SMM) - According to customs data, China's aluminium plate/sheet and strip exports were 329,000 mt in April, an increase of 1% month-on-month and 52% year-on-year.
The exports to the top 10 destinations were 189,200 mt, accounting for 57.49% of the total. Mexico and South Korea remained the top two destinations, with exports to the two countries at 44,000 mt and 34,400 mt respectively. Henan, Shandong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Guangdong were still the major exporting provinces. However, exports by Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai fell from March to 57,200 mt due to the pandemic, accounting for 17.38% of the total.
SMM survey showed that some companies reported lower export orders since April due to severe pandemic in east China and weaker demand from overseas after overseas factories gradually resumed production.
Considering that it takes 1-2 months from the placing of orders to delivery, the export volume in May and June may be less than that in April.
