The rapid rise of trillions of energy storage market

According to the data released by the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the total output of lithium batteries in China exceeded that of 82GWh from January to February, of which the output of energy storage batteries exceeded that of 9GWh, and the number of power batteries installed in new energy vehicles was about 30GWh.

In recent years, from top-level planning to local provinces and cities, the intensive landing of energy storage policies and the rapid promotion of energy storage demonstration projects all show that energy storage has become an important means to solve the energy reform.

On February 22 this year, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Energy Administration issued a circular on the "implementation Plan for the Development of New Energy Storage in the 14th five-year Plan" (referred to as the "implementation Plan").

In the development goal, the "implementation plan" is clear that by 2025, the new type of energy storage will enter the stage of large-scale development from the initial stage of commercialization and have the conditions for large-scale commercial application. By 2030, the new type of energy storage will be fully market-oriented, fully supporting the realization of the goal of carbon peak in the energy field as scheduled.

In this context, the energy storage market is unanimously optimistic, and even known as the next "trillion tuyere".

According to the forecast of Everbright Securities, the market space of energy storage investment in China will reach 450 billion yuan by 2025 and increase to about 1.3 trillion yuan by 2030. "from 2020 to 2060, the cumulative market space for energy storage investment will reach 122 trillion yuan."

Standing in the huge investment tuyere, the first entrant occupies a certain degree of first-mover advantage.

The total investment of investment and expansion projects in the first quarter exceeded 206.2 billion yuan.

According to Vike Lithium incomplete statistics, in the first quarter of 2022, the global energy storage and expansion projects reached 17, involving more than 206.21 billion yuan, the scale exceeds 449GWh.

Production expansion enterprises show a diversified trend, including 3C digital battery enterprises, power battery enterprises, as well as traditional energy giants and energy storage system integrators. Production expansion projects include energy storage cell, energy storage system, liquid flow battery, energy storage battery material and so on.

The projects for energy storage and expansion in the first quarter of 2022 are summarized as follows:

Tianneng shares: announced on March 30th that Zhejiang New Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary, will be the main body of the project to invest in the construction of an annual 15GWh energy storage and power lithium battery project, with a total investment of about 5.17 billion yuan.

Electric Guoxuan: on March 28th, Electric Guoxuan signed an online contract with Pacific Green Technology, a listed company in the United States, on the REP1&2 energy storage project in the UK. Electric Guoxuan will provide a full range of energy storage system solutions for the two sites with a total capacity of 100MW/100MWH.

China Chuang Sina Airlines: in the first quarter of this year, China Chuang Sina Airlines made frequent moves in the field of energy storage, basically every month. In January, the Guangzhou base project was signed, with a total investment of 20 billion yuan and a planned capacity of 50 GWH for power battery and energy storage system; at the same time, a total investment of 20 billion yuan was planned to build an innovative aviation battery and energy storage system Jiangmen base project in Jiangmen; in February, a joint venture with Hainer New Energy established Zhongchuang Xinhang Technology (Jiangmen) Co., Ltd., with a capital contribution of 2.04 billion yuan. In March, the signing ceremony of the Meishan base project of power battery and energy storage system was held with the people's Government of Pengshan District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, with a total planned investment of about 10 billion yuan.

Baofeng Group: on March 18, the 200GWh lithium ion energy storage whole industry chain project of Baofeng Group officially started, with a total investment of 69.2 billion yuan.

Xinwanda: it also acted frequently in the first quarter. On March 17th, Xinwanda announced that its subsidiary Xinwanda Electric vehicle plans to invest in the construction of "Xinwanda Shifang Power Battery and Energy Storage Industry production Base Project", with a total investment of 8 billion yuan to build 20GWh power battery and energy storage battery production base.

In February, 20 billion yuan was invested to build a new base in Zaozhuang, Shandong Province, mainly to build an annual 30GWh power battery, energy storage battery and supporting production base. On January 20, its wholly-owned subsidiary Xinwanda Comprehensive Energy and Zhongneng Green Huiri, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhongneng Electric, signed a "Cooperation Framework Agreement", which will achieve in-depth cooperation and industrial layout in the field of new energy (photovoltaic, energy storage, etc.).

Yiwei Lithium Energy: on March 10th, Yiwei Lithium Energy announced that its subsidiary Yiwei Power plans to invest in the construction of 20GWh square lithium iron phosphate battery production line and auxiliary facilities project and 48GWh power storage battery production line and auxiliary facilities project respectively in Jingmen High-tech Zone, with a total investment of about 12.6 billion yuan in fixed assets.

Zhuhai Guanyu: on February 28, Zhuhai Guanyu announced plans to build a new high-performance lithium-ion battery project in Chongqing. It is estimated that with a total investment of 4 billion yuan, six new intelligent production lines for high-performance lithium-ion batteries will be built, forming an annual production capacity of 15GWh high-performance new lithium-ion batteries, mainly energy storage batteries.

LG new energy: February 17, LG new energy announced the formal acquisition of Japan Electric Co., Ltd. (NEC) in the United States energy storage system manufacturer NEC Energy Solutions (NEC ES) 100% stake, and the establishment of a new legal person LG new energy Vertech, enter the energy storage system integration market.

Lishen battery: February 8, Lishen battery Chuzhou base project officially started, the project is planned to produce 36GWh power battery and energy storage battery, with a total investment of about 15.2 billion yuan.

Solar Power: on February 8th, Sunshine Power announced that it plans to invest more than 10 billion yuan to build an annual energy storage system equipment manufacturing base for 10GWh, a landscape green application project for 2GW+200MW/400MWh and a demonstration project for energy storage application for 500MW/500MWh in Gao'an.

Desai Battery: on January 20th, Desai Battery announced that it plans to set up a holding subsidiary in Wangcheng Economic Development District of Changsha to build the "Desai Battery Energy Storage Battery Project". The project plans to invest 7.5 billion yuan in fixed assets and distribute the energy storage battery project headquarters, R & D center and production center of 20GWh capacity in three phases.

On January 19th, Lufeng City and Beijing Baxter New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. officially signed a carbon neutralization energy storage industry base 5GWh lithium iron phosphate energy storage battery production project, with a total planned investment of 2.5 billion yuan.

Summary

In April, the player territory of the energy storage track continues to expand. One is that lithium battery company Penghui Energy and Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement, the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of energy storage battery and energy storage PACK, BMS, PCS, energy storage system integration, energy storage product research and development, market development, and actively promote the common development of energy storage business.

The other is the traditional energy giant PetroChina issued four bidding notices related to energy storage, involving lithium iron phosphate / lithium titanate / sodium batteries.

The increase of layout enterprises reflects that a large number of enterprises are staring at the huge "cake" of the energy storage market, but it is undeniable that the energy storage industry is still faced with many problems, such as technological innovation, cost reduction, market mechanism, business model, mature and sound standard system, and so on.

À 18h00 le 25 août, la tranche n°3 du projet de centrale thermique de 3×660 MW « remplacement des petites unités par de grandes » de SPIC Qinghai Provincial Investment a passé avec succès l'essai de fonctionnement à pleine charge de 168 heures, marquant l'exploitation à pleine capacité de la centrale thermique ultra-supercritique de 660 MW la plus haute du monde avec co-combustion à haute proportion de charbon à forte teneur en alcalins. Après la mise en service à pleine capacité du projet, sa capacité installée totale atteindra 1 980 MW, avec une production annuelle moyenne stable de plus de 8 milliards de kWh, couvrant entièrement la demande en électricité de toute la province du Qinghai.
