It is reported that although tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue, Volkswagen's production in Wolfsburg is faster than planned due to a stable supply situation. Volkswagen said Golf's second production shift would begin as early as March 23. In the next few weeks, Golf will be produced on three shifts to deliver vehicles to customers as soon as possible. Future production will depend on supply.
Volkswagen said it would take longer for plants in Zvico (Zwickau) and Dresden (Dresden) to resume normal production. The Volkswagen Zvico plant will resume production after Wolfsburg, but it is not expected until early April.
The escalation of the situation in Russia and Ukraine has led to supply difficulties for the entire automobile industry. Among them, the insufficient supply of wire harness has become one of the most important supply problems. Volkswagen is trying to make up for lost harness production by getting suppliers in Romania, Hungary, Tunisia, Morocco, Mexico and China to increase harness production.
Ford's car production in Germany and Spain has been affected by a shortage of parts caused by the situation in Russia and Ukraine. It is reported that Ford's Sal Louis (Saarlouis) plant in Germany will suspend production of the Fox (Focus) compact model from March 21 to 25.
At the same time, a Renault spokesman also revealed that production had resumed on March 21 at the Moscow plant, which mainly produces Renault Duster, Renault Kaptur, Renault Arkana and Nissan Terrano models.
