For a while, negative news about Dainan's stainless steel industry spread all over the country. As soon as the program was broadcast, the Dainan town government immediately issued a notice that the whole town was closed for rectification, and then the province, city, and county sent a joint working group to Dainan. For a time, many enterprise bosses in Dainan were in a panic and felt that the sky had collapsed all of a sudden! Some business owners hurriedly sink ingots or stainless steel materials from the workshop to the bottom of the river, while others secretly transfer to wheat fields or other places where they think they are safe.
Dainan's originally prosperous stainless steel industry encountered an unprecedented crisis, from an originally prosperous and noisy industrial town into the severe winter of public opinion. Although it was a sunny spring at that time, everyone's heart seemed to be frozen with frost. From government leaders to enterprise bosses and even workers who are busy on weekdays, they are at a loss as to what to do.
Comrade Gu Yuejin, then member of the standing Committee of the Xinghua Municipal CPC Committee and secretary of the party committee of Dai Nan Town, was extremely anxious in the face of the sudden storm, and other members of the leading group were equally anxious and couldn't sleep all night thinking about countermeasures. he immediately called other comrades to discuss it, and even convened several ad hoc meetings in the middle of the night to come up with ideas and ways around the crisis.
After repeated discussions, we reached a consensus: Dainan stainless steel industry should not be allowed to stall, and Dainan's stainless steel industry should not be strangled in the cradle of development!
Comrade Ding Jiemin, who once held the post of secretary of the county party committee in Xinghua and was mayor of Taizhou City at that time, immediately told Comrade Chen Baotian, then secretary of the Taizhou Municipal CPC Committee, that he had been in Xinghua for many years and had a better understanding of Dainan's situation. Dainan's stainless steel industry is actually commendable, not as one-sided and unbearable as reported. Therefore, the Taizhou leading group set the tone on this matter: correctly face the supervision of news and public opinion, and at the same time strive to rectify, move closer to standardization, and actively improve the level of manufacturing and management, so that we can rectify and produce at the same time.
Comrade Chen Junyi, secretary of the Xinghua Municipal CPC Committee, took a clear-cut stand and instructed, first, to face it correctly, and second, to actively resolve it.
After a short period of encirclement, Dainan's two teams quickly worked out a response plan: one is to organize the investigation and writing team to write relevant materials about Dainan stainless steel industry, collect product samples from Dainan enterprises, and set up a Dainan stainless steel product exhibition hall to convince the public with products and facts to reverse the misunderstanding of Dainan stainless steel industry by people who do not know the truth. Second, the then mayor of Dainan town, Gao Xuejun, took people to Shanghai to seek expert support. Because I was the secretary general of Dainan stainless Steel Association at that time, I was accompanied by the mayor of the town. In Shanghai, I found Tian Dingyu, president of Baosteel Design and Research Institute, who is a deputy to the National people's Congress, vice president of stainless steel branch of China Special Steel Enterprise Association, and an authoritative expert in stainless steel industry.
We found Dean Tian, reported to him in detail the false report on Dainan in the "focus interview", and implored Dean Tian to come to Dainan to find out. The approachable Dean Tian readily agreed, but we took him to inspect Dainan stainless steel enterprises for several days in a row. after on-the-spot investigation, Dean Tian fully affirmed the rationality and necessity of the existence of Dainan stainless steel industry. he believes that Dainan's stainless steel industry can make up for the lack of large industrial products, is absolutely a useful supplement to the rich variety of stainless steel products, and should support and encourage the development of Dainan stainless steel industry.
Dean Tian's outspoken words not only cheered Dai Nan, but also had a good influence in the industry. During this period, we asked Dean Tian to give a stainless steel academic class for the bosses of Dainan stainless steel enterprises while the iron was hot, which greatly broadened the horizons and ideas of Dainan enterprise bosses and sowed excellent genes for the development of Dainan stainless steel.
Third, Zhou Qi, member of the standing Committee of the Taizhou Municipal CPC Committee and minister of propaganda, and Chen Junyi, secretary of the Xinghua Municipal CPC Committee, and Gu Yuejin, secretary of the party committee of Dainan Town, led the team to Beijing and separately contacted the relevant leaders such as the research office of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, and found the person in charge of the focus interview group to explain to him the real situation of Dainan stainless steel industry and restore the bad impression of Dainan stainless steel industry. And then a special report was produced by Jiangsu Satellite TV, which initially relieved the crisis in public opinion in response to the "focus interview" program on April 1.
In Beijing, we also visited Li Cheng, executive vice president of the stainless steel branch of China Special Steel Enterprises Association, and Liu Cuizhen, secretary general, to report to them on the situation of Dainan stainless steel industry, and cordially invited them to organize a team of experts to visit Dainan and feel the pulse. It is worth mentioning that when President Li Cheng led a team of experts to inspect Dainan at that time, he happened to be on the same flight as Comrade Wu Yue, Mayor Wu of Xinghua, at the Capital Airport. Mayor Wu and President Li talked freely all the way during the flight, and the one who talked most was Dainan's stainless steel.
Since then, Director Lu Shiying, Deputy Director Kang Xifan and Professor Zhu Cheng of the Chinese stainless Steel expert Committee have been invited to Dainan many times. After inspection and interviews, they have worked out a "good prescription" for the development of the stainless steel industry: centralized smelting, centralized rolling, and decentralized processing.
The person who unlocks the bell must also tie the bell. After running among various authoritative departments and professional organizations, we present facts, take evidence, send materials, actively communicate with industry experts, and urge experts to come to Dainan for inspection and guidance. The storm finally died down. Only more than 20 days after the "interview in focus" was broadcast, Dainan gradually resumed orderly production and management activities. Come back to life.
At that time, the two large exhibition halls downstairs of the Management Committee of Dainan Science and Technology Park were hastily arranged, but because of the active cooperation of Dainan enterprise bosses, they collected and displayed a number of samples provided by many enterprises. dazzling, exquisite and beautiful stainless steel products are all "made in Dainan". These products have won the unanimous admiration of all experts and guests, so that the image of Dainan stainless steel products has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. At that time, Dainan town government statistics show that Dainan stainless steel products have more than 40 series, tens of thousands of varieties.
The resolution of a crisis of public opinion has not only eliminated the bad image of Dainan stainless steel in the eyes of the people all over the country, but also well publicized Dainan's stainless steel industry, making Dainan stainless steel more famous throughout the country and attracting more attention from the world.
A crisis turned into a new opportunity for the development of Dainan stainless steel. In 2002, Xinghua City held a briefing on the investment environment in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, where Dai Nan's stainless steel industry was promoted as a main bright spot. In accordance with the requirements of Secretary Gu Yuejin's attendance at the meeting, the town sent us to find an advertising company in Hangzhou, carefully produced a promotional album, and sent a sample of the album to Secretary Gu for review. Secretary Gu felt that the slogan "the hometown of stainless steel-Dannan" on the front page of the album lacked momentum and asked me to draw up a new slogan to replace it.
I have worked and lived in Dainan for several decades, and it is no exaggeration to say that I grew up with Dainan stainless steel. I sympathize with the ups and downs of Dainan stainless steel people's entrepreneurship. Their tenacious entrepreneurial spirit, their pioneering spirit in the world, and their craftsman spirit in pursuit of excellence. All can be sung and wept, moving heaven and earth! The propaganda written for Dainan stainless steel industry should not only show the characteristics of Dainan stainless steel industry, but also interpret the spirit and temperament of Dainan stainless steel people.
In response to Secretary Gu Yuejin's mandate, my mind is filled with the ups and downs and brilliance of Dainan stainless steel industry. The faces of Dainan stainless steel representatives seem to emerge in front of us, and their vivid images are far better than those of Liangshan 108. A word blurted out from the bottom of my heart-Dainan, who will never rust!

When I called Secretary Gu Yuejin to report this slogan, Secretary Gu asked me to talk about the connotation of it. I reported to Secretary Gu that the sentence "never rusty Dinan" first made people think that Dinan was born of stainless steel. Dinan thrives because of stainless steel; secondly, "Dinan who will never rust" also represents the quality, will, pursuit and spirit of Dainan who will never rust. Finally, it is also a good blessing to Dainan stainless steel industry. I wish Dainan stainless steel industry will never "rust" and always be brilliant!
After hearing this, Secretary Gu said yes again and again, and thus confirmed the new slogan: Dainan, who will never rust!
Later, this slogan not only appeared in the Dainan promotional album of that Hangzhou conference, but also was displayed on the advertising "antiaircraft cannon" along the Ningyan Expressway, especially the billboards at the toll stations of the Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge. on the large billboards running along both sides of the toll stations, all were printed with huge advertisements of "never Rust Dannan." this is the first picture that comes into view of all vehicles passing through Jiangyin Bridge. "Dainan stainless Steel Trading City" made this slogan into a large billboard and erected it above the market, becoming a distinct direction for the merchants who came to Dainan to contact the stainless steel business.
In the early summer of 2003 after the crisis, jointly organized by the government and the association, the secretary of the town personally led the team, and Dainan stainless Steel Enterprise sent a luxury lineup of more than 40 people to Beijing to attend the "China Iron and Steel Industry Conference." the "Dai Nan Tuan" became the most beautiful scenery at that session. In Beijing, Dainan's stainless steel products entered the exhibition hall of the "Beijing Exhibition Hall" for the first time, attracting the attention of many experts and stainless steel merchants at home and abroad, showing "Dainan who will never rust" to people all over the world. Stainless steel industry experts lingered in front of the "Dainan stainless Steel" booth in the Beijing Exhibition Hall, couldn't help giving a thumbs up and spoke highly of: Dainan's stainless steel industry represents the development direction of China's private stainless steel enterprises and has a bright future!
In order to expand the vision and thinking of Dainan stainless steel people, the Dainan town government has timely organized "learning groups" attended by town and village cadres and stainless steel enterprise bosses to study, inspect, and learn lessons from private stainless steel enterprises in Wenzhou, Ningbo, Zhejiang, and other places. In 2004, Dai Nan also hosted the first "Seminar on the Development Strategy of China's Private stainless Steel Enterprises" held by the stainless Steel Branch of China Special Steel Association, which was attended by more than 200 people from the stainless steel industry at home and abroad. Dainan stainless steel's popularity and reputation have been further enhanced.
So far, in order to eliminate the negative impact of the "focus interview" program on Dainan stainless steel, a series of efforts we have made have achieved good results. Dainan stainless steel has not only failed to recover because of this. On the contrary, it has been widely concerned and recognized by people in the industry all over the country and even around the world. Dainan stainless steel industry has also got the driving force and opportunity to upgrade, and has stepped into a better development track since then.
