SMM reported on June 7 that AVIC Lithium, which ranks fourth among power battery manufacturers in China, plans to IPO next year. According to the statistics of the National Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, AVIC Lithium installed 3.55% of GWh, in 2020, ranking fourth in the industry. The first three are Ningde era, BYD and LG Chemistry.

Even from the performance of the domestic market, in April 2021, AVIC Lithium Power installed surpassed LG to rank third, with a market share of 9.3%, making it second only to the Ningde era and BYD.

But even so, AVIC Lithium has not stopped to continue its crusade. On June 1, Liu Jingyu, chairman of AVIC Lithium, even set a 300GWh target for the company in terms of battery capacity. Judging from the performance of AVIC Lithium, this goal is not to talk casually. Since entering 2021, AVIC Lithium has been on the road of signing contracts and expanding production.

On January 18th, Jiangsu Phase IV project, with a total investment of 13.8 billion yuan and main construction capacity of 25GWh lithium-ion power battery and supporting facilities, was successfully signed in Jintan, marking that AVIC Lithium Power's mass production, under construction and newly built production capacity exceeded 100GWH in 2021. On February 26th, AVIC Lithium 23GWh Jiangsu Phase III Project, which also invested in Class 10 billion Lithium Power, officially started. On March 2, CNAC Lithium Power invested another 10 billion yuan to officially start the construction of the second phase of the Xiamen project in two phases. after the completion of the two phases of the project, it will form an international leading intelligent chemical plant with annual production capacity of 20GWh.

On April 6th, AVIC Lithium A8 project syndicated successfully signed a contract with a total investment of 2.7 billion yuan to plan and build 6GWh lithium-ion power battery and power system industrial base. On May 9, AVIC Lithium Power signed a project cooperation framework agreement with Xiamen Torch High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and the two sides reached a cooperation consensus on AVIC Lithium Power 30GWh power battery expansion project in Xiamen base. On May 29th, the Chengdu base project with a total investment of 28 billion yuan and planned production capacity of 50GWh power battery and energy storage battery was officially established in Chengdu Economic Development District. The project is divided into two phases, and the products are mainly supporting domestic and foreign new energy vehicles and energy storage markets and other application fields. Then, only the next day, on May 31, AVIC Lithium signed the "AVIC Lithium Power Battery and Energy Storage Battery Wuhan Base Project Investment Agreement" with Wuhan Economic Development District, with a total investment of 10 billion yuan and a planned new production capacity of 20GWh.

From all this, it is easy to see that AVIC Lithium is working towards the goal of 300GWh, and even if it is roughly estimated, AVIC Lithium has already invested more than 50 billion in the expansion of lithium electronic power batteries in 2021. As for the reason why AVIC Lithium Power is so expensive, it naturally has a lot to do with the increasing popularity of lithium-ion power batteries in recent years. With the rapid development of new energy vehicles, the price of lithium-ion power battery, as its core, is also increasing day by day. According to the relevant data of the global power battery market released by South Korean research institute SNE Research in the first four months of this year, the global installed capacity of power batteries in electric vehicles increased from 26.8GWh in the same period last year to 65.9 GWh, in the first four months of this year.

Bright development prospects, increasingly strong demand, coupled with the shortage of lithium resources, not only lithium ore, the corresponding lithium salt price is also rising. Take battery-grade lithium carbonate as an example. According to the historical price of SMM, as of June 7, SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate was quoted at 88000 yuan per ton, up 66% from the beginning of the year, but even so, many enterprises have joined the war of "snatching lithium" one after another.

The performance of battery-grade lithium hydroxide is not inferior, different from the current lithium carbonate production capacity has begun to oversupply, leading to a slight drop in prices, according to SMM research, domestic battery-grade lithium hydroxide is still in a tight state, almost no transaction, so the price upward speed is relatively slow, it is expected that some enterprises sign this week, lithium hydroxide transaction prices may continue to rise.

As of June 7, the average price of SMM battery-grade lithium hydroxide was 91500 yuan per ton, up 84.8 percent from the beginning of the year.
