SMM: on July 10, the China Iron and Steel Association held a video conference on the operation of some iron and steel enterprises in the first half of the year to understand the production and operation of iron and steel enterprises in the first half of the year, analyze the difficulties and problems encountered in the operation of the industry, discuss the market trend in the later period and put forward countermeasures and suggestions. He Wenbo, secretary of the party committee and executive president of the Steel Association, presided over the meeting. Qu Xiuli, vice president of the Steel Association, responsible persons of relevant business departments, and responsible persons in charge of 22 key member enterprises attended the meeting.

At the meeting, qu Xiuli introduced the operation of the iron and steel industry in the first half of the year. Leaders of eight iron and steel enterprises, including Shougang, Angang, Shagang, China Baowu, CITIC Pacific Special Steel, Fujian Sangang, Jiuzhou Iron and Steel, and Zhongtian Iron and Steel, introduced the production and operation situation and the main problems they faced in the first half of the year, shared their judgment on the market trend in the second half of the year, and put forward countermeasures and suggestions.

In concluding the meeting, he Wenbo said that in the first half of the year, the Xinguan pneumonia epidemic had a serious impact on the world economy, and it was not easy for the iron and steel industry to maintain basically stable operation. In order to deal with the epidemic and stabilize the operation, the state, industry and enterprises have made great efforts and achieved remarkable results. At present, the national epidemic prevention and control situation tends to be stable, various measures gradually fall to the ground, the policy effect gradually appears, and the demand for iron and steel gradually recovers. Generally speaking, the continuous improvement of national economic indicators has provided a better-than-expected external environment for the production and operation of the iron and steel industry, the recovery of steel demand has exceeded expectations, the supply of iron and steel products is strong, and the iron and steel industry has withstood the test of the epidemic. This is mainly due to two aspects: first, the correct leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, especially the support of various key policies issued by the state and local governments; and second, the joint efforts and unity and cooperation of the Steel Association and enterprises. a lot of work has been done to maintain the smooth operation of the industry.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the operation of the iron and steel industry is mainly divided into three stages: first, the "safety" stage, comprehensively carry out epidemic prevention and control work. In view of the difficulties such as the obstruction of logistics and the limited movement of personnel, the Steel Association put forward a 12-word working policy of "controlling the epidemic, strengthening security, ensuring safety, and stable operation", calling on the whole industry to strengthen confidence, overcome the difficulties together, and go all out to win the war of prevention and control of the epidemic. The second is the stage of "stable operation", focusing on promoting the resumption of work and production. The focus of the whole industry has shifted from the production side to the demand side, comprehensively tracking the progress of downstream industries and changes in the industrial chain, to meet the demand for iron and steel in the recovery of the national economy. Third, at the stage of "seeking development", we will unswervingly promote high-quality development. Under the background of the normalization of epidemic prevention and control at home and the grim and complex situation of the epidemic abroad, in the face of the effectiveness of the state's policies and measures to hedge against the impact of the epidemic, and the gradual recovery of steel consumption, we should look at the problem from a dialectical and long-term perspective and maintain strategic determination. continue to promote the high-quality development of the industry.

He Wenbo pointed out that at present, we are in the stage of "seeking development", and the smooth operation of the iron and steel industry still faces many difficulties and challenges: first, the production capacity is released quickly, and the production intensity exceeds the market demand; second, the global economic recession, the international environment is more complex, unstable and uncertain factors are increasing; third, the iron ore price is still high, which brings greater pressure on the industry to improve efficiency. Fourth, iron and steel enterprises in financial support, tax and fee reduction, import and export and other policies, there are still many problems to be coordinated and solved.

He Wenbo stressed that in the next step, the task of improving the operation quality of the iron and steel industry is arduous, and it is necessary to adhere to strategic thinking and bottom line thinking, and continue to make efforts from the following aspects: first, rationally control the release of production capacity and promote the balance between supply and demand in the market; second, tap the potential to reduce costs and increase efficiency, comprehensively find gaps, find experience, and find ways. Third, closely follow the developments in the international market, adjust import and export strategies and measures in a timely manner, actively safeguard both international and domestic markets, and make good use of both international and domestic resources; fourth, focus on the fundamental task of improving industrial basic capacity and industrial level, adhere to the two major themes of green development and intelligent manufacturing, focus on solving the pain points of the three major industries that control production expansion, promote industrial concentration, and ensure resource security, and strive to promote related work. "all our work will eventually focus on promoting scientific and technological progress and on promoting high-quality development, so as to ensure the sustained and healthy development of China's iron and steel industry." He Wenbo said.
