SHANGHAI, Nov 4 (SMM) – The outcome of Indonesia’s investigation on “massive violations” of export rules that began two weeks earlier is expected to be revealed early this week, a source told SMM on Monday November 4.
Much of the market focus has been centred on penalties for miners that privately traded quotas, and whether miners that exported ore with a Ni content above 1.7% would be able to fulfil their remaining quotas.
The official reaction to non-compliance will impact the export volume of Indonesian nickel ore for the rest of the year.
Last week, mines with export quotas had recovered the loading of nickel ore with a Ni grade lower than 1.7%.
