Report: Samsung SDI to expand power battery capacity in China

Samsung-ARN, a joint venture established by Samsung SDI, Anqing Ring New Group (ARN), and Xi'an Gaoke Group, began constructing the second phase of its automotive battery project at the Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, on November 29.

With total investment of 10.5 billion yuan, the 160,000 m² plant will have five production lines that can produce 60Ah lithium-ion batteries.

In October 2015, the first phase of the power battery project entered production, with annual capacity of 3.6 million battery cells.
