More working days in May bolster nickel output

China's nickel production rose 2.5% month-on-month in May to 12,200 mt, with more working days in May than April. Year on year, production shrank 2.1%

SHANGHAI, Jun 5 (SMM) – China's nickel production rose 2.5% month-on-month in May to 12,200 mt, with more working days in May than April. Year on year, production shrank 2.1%, showed SMM data.

Output in the first five months of this year declined 8.6% from the same period last year and stood at 59,400 mt.

With fewer working days in June than May, nickel production in June is likely to fall 2.5% from May to stand at 11,900 mt. Operating rates in June are also expected to remain flat from May.
