SHANGHAI, Mar. 23 (SMM) - China had 17 polysilicon producers which remained in production by late February, with effective capacity totaling 220,000-tpy, up 10,000-tpy from late 2016, according to the Silicon Branch of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
The growth in capacity is mainly from expanded and upgraded capacity by Xinte Energy Co. and China Silicon Corporation Ltd.
Based on progress of capacity expansion at other producers, domestic polysilicon capacity will reach 250,000-tpy in mid-2017.
