Washington e-scrap collection rate declines during H1 2015

The e-scrap collected by Washington State has declined marginally during the initial six-month period of the year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The e-scrap collected by Washington State has declined marginally during the initial six-month period of the year. According to data released by the Washington Department of Ecology, the total e-scrap collected during the first half of 2015 amounted to 10,833 tons, a tad lower when compared with the collection during the corresponding six-month period in 2014. The collection during Jan-Jun ’14 had totaled 10,965 tons.

As per data, a total of 8,110 tons of televisions were collected during the first six months of the year. Televisions constituted 82.20% of the total e-waste collections. The collection of Televisions during the month of June alone totaled 1,487 tons.

Monitors accounted for 10.5% of the total collections during Jan-Jun ’15. The cumulative collection of monitors during the initial six month period of the year totaled 1,021 tons. The collection during June ’15 alone totaled 190 tons.

The third largest component was Computers, including laptops. The six-month collection totaled 697 tons, whereas the collection during June alone totaled 131 tons. Computers constituted 7.2% of the total collections during Jan-Jun ’15.

The half yearly report does not provide breakup of materials. Hence individual data for CRT collection is not avialable.

The Washington e-scrap collection rates had declined during 2014 also. The rates had dropped by almost 2% when compared with 2013.
