Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated the groundbreaking for the second phase of 13 strategic downstream projects valued at Rp116 trillion in Cilacap, Central Java, on April 29, 2026. These projects span the energy, mineral, and agricultural sectors—including nickel-based steel manufacturing in Morowali, copper and gold processing in Gresik, and a coal-to-DME conversion plant in South Sumatra—aiming to solidify Indonesia’s economic revival. President Prabowo emphasized that downstreaming remains the nation's path to prosperity, with plans to launch at least six additional projects later this year to further enhance domestic value-added production.
