Hainan's First Grid-Forming ESS Station Aces Key Tests

Recently, Hainan Province achieved a major milestone — the province's first independent grid-forming ESS power station, the Datang Wenchang 100MW/200MWh grid-forming energy storage demonstration project, successfully completed a regional-level black start test and an isolated grid 110kV line labour short-circuit test. Both critical core tests were completed successfully on the first attempt, signifying a major breakthrough for Hainan in the application of new-type energy storage technology and the safe and stable operation of high-proportion new energy power grids.
