[Renault Plans to Cut Up to 20% of Engineers to Reduce Costs] In a bid to streamline operations amid an increasingly competitive environment, Renault Group plans to cut up to 20% of its engineering workforce globally over the next two years. On April 14, a Renault media spokesperson said in a phone response to Bloomberg's inquiry about the layoffs that the French automaker currently has more than 11,000 engineers worldwide, and the specific layoff arrangements will be decided by Renault's management in each country.
