First Public Notice for Environmental Impact Assessment of the Standardized Cascading Utilization Equipment Renovation Project for Retired Power Batteries (Phase I) of a Company in Jiangxi
The first public notice for the environmental impact assessment of the project (Phase I) has been released. Located in Standard Factory Buildings B3-4, International Printing and Packaging City, Guandu District, Kunming City, the project has a total investment of 157 million yuan. It adopts technologies including high-compatibility rapid non-destructive testing and sorting for retired batteries, pre-treatment technology for power lithium battery recycling, and conventional battery production lines to process waste power lithium batteries and form battery module products. The project will construct one automatic production line for 18650 cylindrical batteries, one for 32700 lithium iron phosphate batteries, one for prismatic aluminum-shell batteries, and one for pouch batteries.

A 100,000-Ton Waste Lithium Battery Recycling Comprehensive Utilization Project Launched in Shandong
On February 2, the Ecology and Environment Bureau of Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province, published a public notice regarding the approval of the environmental impact assessment document for the "Waste Lithium Battery Recycling Comprehensive Utilization Project of a Company in Tengzhou." Located in the New Energy Industrial Park of the New Area, Dongshahe Street, Tengzhou City, the project has a total investment of 410 million yuan and will be constructed in two phases. The first phase has an designed annual processing capacity of 50,000 tons, establishing 7 specialized production lines. Through multiple processes including dismantling, pyrolysis, crushing, and battery remanufacturing, the project will produce battery black mass and cascading utilization energy storage products, aiming for efficient recycling and maximum value realization of waste lithium battery resources.

A 750 Million Yuan Waste Lithium Battery Comprehensive Utilization Project Launched in an Industrial Park in Guangdong Province
A reply from the Guangzhou Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau regarding the environmental impact report for the "Guangdong Provincial New Energy Circular Economy Zero-Carbon Smart Industrial Park Guangzhou Headquarters – Retired Power Battery and Waste Lithium Battery Comprehensive Utilization Project." The project will use 30,000 tons/year of waste lithium-ion battery packs (sets) as raw material to produce cascading utilization batteries through dismantling and assembly processes. It will also use 20,000 tons/year of waste lithium-ion battery cells (of which 900 tons come from dismantling the packs) as raw material to produce main products: ternary battery black mass and lithium iron phosphate.

First Public Notice for a 30,000 Tons/Year Waste Lithium Battery Project in Yangxi County, Guangdong
Recently, in accordance with the requirements of the "Environmental Impact Assessment Law of the People's Republic of China" and the "Measures for Public Participation in Environmental Impact Assessment" regarding the environmental impact assessment of construction projects, relevant environmental impact assessment information for the "Waste New Energy Battery Processing and Cascading Utilization Project of a Company in Yangjiang City" is now being disclosed to the public.

Waste Lithium Battery Recycling Project Officially Starts Construction in Hubei
On February 1st, the groundbreaking ceremony for the ChaoWei YuanLi • WeiPu Recycling and the 100,000-ton level waste lithium battery recycling project in Tianmen City, Hubei Province, was grandly held at the industrial park of a company in Tianmen, Hubei. The project has a total investment of 300 million yuan and is expected to process 100,000 tons of lithium battery recycling materials.

A 200,000-Ton Lithium Iron Phosphate Project Commences Production
On January 30th, the commissioning ceremony for a company in Gansu was held in Lanzhou New Area. The project has a total investment of 3.135 billion yuan and will be constructed in two phases, each with a capacity of 100,000 tons. The first phase, with an annual output of 100,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate production line, started construction in April 2024; the second phase, also with an annual output of 100,000 tons, is planned to commence construction in March 2026.

[SMM Daily Review: Spot Lithium Carbonate Prices Fluctuate Upward on March 2] SMM's battery-grade lithium carbonate index price edged up compared to the previous working day. In terms of futures movement, the most-traded contract opened and surged to a high of 179,500 yuan/mt before fluctuating and pulling back, breaking below the 170,000 yuan/mt level, and then gradually stabilized and rebounded to consolidate around 172,000 yuan/mt. In the afternoon, prices edged up again, mainly fluctuating around 173,500 yuan/mt until the close. The open interest of the most-traded contract decreased by about 3,200 lots compared to the previous trading day. In terms of actual transactions, upstream lithium chemical plants maintained relatively firm quotes, with a weak willingness to sell spot orders. When futures prices dropped to 170,000 yuan/mt, some downstream material plants showed a slight recovery in purchase willingness, but most participants remained cautious, primarily adopting a wait-and-see approach. Overall, there were signs of a slight recovery in market inquiries and transactions.

Against this backdrop, the value of energy storage and grid infrastructure becomes particularly prominent. If conflict persists, the core objective of energy systems will shift from cost optimization to systemic resilience. Distributed energy, microgrids, and storage possess an insurance-like function; their value becomes more visible under extreme conditions. Even if elevated raw material prices increase project costs, higher policy priority may provide long-term support.
