Axis Minerals' Mining Area Faces Production Resumption Deadlock; Guinea's Bauxite Supply Set to Surge in 2026

【SMM Aluminum Express News】According to overseas news, on November 6, 2025, a letter signed by Aboubacar Korouma, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Mining, asked AGB2A-GIC and SD Mining to evacuate all mining equipment from the perimeter of the former operating permit of Axis Minerals by November 10. The resumption of production in the mining area has once again reached a deadlock. SMM will continue to monitor the progress of the event and its impact.

According to SMM research and analysis, in 2026, with the launch of new projects in Guinea and the expansion of existing projects, the withdrawal of equipment from the AXIS mining area will be difficult to reverse the oversupply situation.

The net increase in bauxite supply in Guinea for the whole year could reach 25 million tons, and it is expected that China's imported bauxite supply will further increase, having a relatively limited impact on the price of imported Guinean bauxite.
