Spain Announces EUR 480 Million Aid for Clean Tech Manufacturing

Spain's Ecological Transition Ministry plans to launch a EUR 480 million (USD 558.3 million) subsidy program to support domestic manufacturing of clean energy technologies. The draft program terms are open for public consultation until September 8.

Administered by the state energy agency IDAE, the program will fund industrial projects related to the energy transition value chain. This includes the production of components such as solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, hydrogen electrolysers, heat pumps, and grid technologies. Equipment for industrial decarbonization, like electric arc furnaces and hydrogen-ready reactors, is also eligible.

Grants will be awarded competitively after expense verification. Support generally covers up to 15% of eligible costs, increasing to 20% in designated ‘c’ regions and 35% in ‘a’ regions. Small and medium-sized enterprises may receive additional aid.

This follows the ministry's earlier Renoval program, which allocated EUR 296 million to 33 clean tech manufacturing projects.
