First Quantum Minerals Withdraws International Arbitration Request

According to a report by Reuters cited by Mining.com, the Panamanian government announced on Wednesday that it had received official confirmation that First Quantum Minerals of Canada had withdrawn an international arbitration request against the government.

At the end of 2023, First Quantum Minerals was forced to shut down its copper mine in the country, as ordered by the Supreme Court of Panama.

The withdrawal of the arbitration request was a prerequisite for negotiations between the Panamanian government and First Quantum Minerals.
