SMM January 20 News:
Rare Earth Ore
Prices: Rare earth carbonate prices are approximately 33,100 yuan/mt, monazite prices are around 38,300 yuan/mt, and medium-yttrium, europium-rich ore standard ore prices are about 176,500 yuan/mt.
Supply and Demand: Currently, as the year-end approaches, suppliers at the mining end show low willingness to sell, and market activity remains subdued.
Rare Earth Oxides
Prices: The mainstream quotation range for Pr-Nd oxide is 408,000-410,000 yuan/mt; the trading range for dysprosium oxide is around 1.66-1.67 million yuan/mt, and terbium oxide prices are approximately 5.9-5.95 million yuan/mt.
Supply and Demand: As the Chinese New Year approaches, market activity for rare earth oxide products is low, and logistics are expected to halt this week. Most suppliers have stopped quoting prices this week, leading to reduced market trading volumes.
Rare Earth Metals
Prices: The mainstream quotation for Pr-Nd alloy is approximately 502,000-508,000 yuan/mt, dysprosium-iron prices corresponding to oxide quotations are around 1.6-1.63 million yuan/mt, and terbium metal prices are about 7.4-7.43 million yuan/mt.
Supply and Demand: This week, some metal producers have already ceased operations for the holiday, and the willingness to actively quote prices is low. Rare earth metal prices are expected to remain stable this week.
Magnetic Materials
Prices: NdFeB blank prices are as follows: NdFeB blank N38 (Ce) at 133-143 yuan/kg; NdFeB blank 40M at 179-189 yuan/kg; NdFeB blank 40H at 183-193 yuan/kg; NdFeB blank 45SH (Ce) at 233-253 yuan/kg.
Supply and Demand: Last week, rare earth prices showed a fluctuating trend. Influenced by procurement news from major producers, the magnetic material market's attention to raw material prices increased, but overall purchasing remained as needed. With the Chinese New Year holiday approaching, most magnetic material enterprises are expected to cease operations around January 20, and the rare earth market is anticipated to gradually become mediocre.
NdFeB Scrap
Prices: NdFeB scrap Pr-Nd prices are at 431-436 yuan/kg; NdFeB scrap dysprosium prices are at 1,559-1,587 yuan/kg; NdFeB scrap terbium prices are at 5,087-5,123 yuan/kg.
Supply and Demand: Before the holiday, scrap prices remained relatively stable, but market activity cooled in many regions as numerous magnetic material enterprises and trading companies began to shut down. Inquiries in the market were scarce, and some tail-end procurement prices were higher than mainstream prices. Separation enterprises mainly conducted restocking for immediate needs, but trading volumes fell short of expectations. During the Chinese New Year holiday, the market is expected to focus on consuming inventory, with a cautious outlook on price trends after the holiday.
