SMM Report: September Cold & Hot Rolled Steel Production Schedules Plunge Amid Profitability Woes, Cold-Rolled Data Expansion for 31 Mills

[SMM Hot Rolled & Cold Rolled Production Schedule Report: Poor Profitability Leads to Double Decline in Hot and Cold Rolled Production Schedules in September] Important Notice: From September 2024, SMM will officially launch the cold-rolled production schedule data for 31 long-process steel mills, accounting for 100% of the sampled long-process cold-rolled steel mills.

According to SMM's latest tracking, the total planned production of cold-rolled commercial materials by 31 mainstream cold-rolled coil steel mills in September is 4.0105 million tons, a decrease of 283,500 tons from the actual output in August, representing a decline of 6.6%.

Due to poor production profitability, steel mill shutdowns have occurred in East China this month, leading to more prominent production cuts. Steel mill production in other regions has remained relatively stable. In terms of order intake, steel mills' cold-rolled order bookings in September showed a slight improvement from the previous month on a month-on-month basis.
