Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 30, Chinese electric vehicle maker XPENG held the XPENG Smart AI Technology Conference in Guangzhou, where it officially launched the AI-powered Tianji XOS 5.2 in-car OS and announced its global rollout to all eligible XPENG models.

"AI has started leading new trends and technological waves post-2023, bringing four new directions: chips, large models, autonomous driving, and robotics. Among the new leading enterprises riding this AI wave is XPENG," said He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO.

The Tianji XOS 5.2 includes 72 new features and 412 optimizations, covering intelligent driving, ecosystem connectivity, and smart cockpits. Notably, XPENG’s XNGP (XPENG Navigation Guided Pilot) intelligent driving feature will expand its coverage nationwide, "wherever navigation is possible, AI smart driving is possible."

The latest public beta version of the XNGP system can already automatically pass through ETC toll stations. The automaker said that by the fourth quarter of 2024, the XNGP system should achieve true door-to-door smart driving, navigating through ETC toll stations, parking lot barriers, and private roads of campuses.

Currently, XPENG's smart driving technology is in the early phase of "nationwide usability" and is projected to reach the second stage by the fourth quarter of 2024. By late 2025 to early 2026, user safety and efficiency interventions are expected to decrease significantly, improving the overall user experience and making it a more favorable feature among XPENG vehicle users.

In terms of ecosystem connectivity, the Tianji XOS 5.2 integrates with Apple's ecosystem, enabling Siri commands for functions like car washing mode, rapid cooling, and sentry mode. It also supports gesture control and versatile NFC car control for easy access to car doors, charging ports, and more.

In the smart cockpit, the system supports 80 customizable instrument styles, 1,620 driving mode options, and comprehensive screen mirroring for seamless entertainment and work transitions.

XPENG disclosed that the Tianji XOS 5.2 will be available in China starting July 30, and will be rolled out to ten other countries, including Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, and France, on August 15.

Additionally, He Xiaopeng discussed XPENG’s collaboration with Volkswagen, indicating that the first car model riding on their jointly developed electronic and electrical architecture (EEA), the China Main Platform (CMP), could be mass-produced within 24 months.

This follows an agreement signed in April this year where XPENG and Volkswagen committed to developing leading EEA technology for Volkswagen’s CMP and MEB platforms. The platforms are set to be implemented into Volkswagen-branded electric vehicles made in China from 2026.

Additionally, at the conference, He Xiaopeng disclosed that as of July 2024, XPENG has 1,300 self-operated stations, including 1,000 supercharging stations. The company holds plans to establish 10,000 self-operated charging stations and 4,500 liquid-cooled supercharging stations by 2026.

Moreover, the first batch of XPENG MONA M03 display cars will arrive at stores in 100 cities nationwide starting August 1.
