Wuling Motors puts CloudEV model onto Indonesian market

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 15, 2024, the CloudEV all-electric vehicle model (known as the Baojun Yunduo in China) officially hit the market in Jakarta, Indonesia, with a guide price of IDR 438 million (approximately 200,000 yuan), according to a press release from PT SGMW Motor Indonesia (also called SAIC General Motors Wuling Motor Indonesia or Wuling Motors), a subsidiary wholly owned by SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile ("SGMW").

After three years of strategic planning, Wuling Motors now offers three new energy vehicle (NEV) models– Air ev, BingoEV, and CloudEV, covering the mainstream passenger car market in Indonesia, with prices ranging from IDR 200 million to 450 million (100,000 yuan to 220,000 yuan). From January to April, Wuling held a 62.5% share of Indonesia's NEV market, said the carmaker. 

Wuling Motors kicked off pre-orders for the CloudEV model on April 30. By May 15, it had received over 600-unit orders.

Thanks to Wuling Motors' ongoing investment in NEV products, these vehicles have garnered significant attention and approval from the Indonesian government. The Air ev was selected as one of the first vehicles for verification by the Indonesian Digital Testing House. From May 18 to 25, 150 units of the Air ev, BingoEV, and CloudEV will serve as the official vehicles for the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, providing green transportation for government officials from various countries. This continues the trend of Wuling's NEVs being chosen as official vehicles for major international events in Indonesia, such as the 2022 G20 Bali Summit, the 2023 ASEAN Summit, etc.

Wuling Motors said the CloudEV complies with Indonesian government's regulations on localization rates, making buyers eligible for government value-added tax incentives for NEVs.

Additionally, Wuling Motors is actively leading the development of an electric vehicle charging ecosystem. Currently, users of the Air ev and the BingoEV have completed the installation of 7,284 home charging facilities. In terms of public charging stations, initial efforts are focused on Jakarta, with 15 national-standard DC fast-charging stations set to be completed by the end of this month, and a total of 100 planned for completion this year.
