According to relevant information reports, after 2024, Ukrainian drones launched a series of attacks on Russian domestic oil facilities, and 13 refineries in nine regions of Russia were attacked 15 times.
The attacked refineries are located closest to Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk, which are adjacent to Ukraine, and the farthest ones are located in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Samara Oblast. The total installed capacity of the attacked refineries is 178 million tonnes/year, but only eight refineries with a capacity of 83 million tonnes/year suffered major damage.
According to customs statistics, China's annual petroleum coke imports in 2023 was 16 million tons, and the total imports from Russia were about 2.1622 million tons, accounting for 13% of the total, making it one of China's major importing countries.
As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continued to intensify, especially in March, Ukraine has increased the frequency of drone attacks on Russian refineries. Through relevant reports, SMM learned that although many refineries were attacked, not all of them were paralyzed after the attack. According to SMM, the shipping schedule and arrival of Russian coke have not been greatly affected so far, and we will continue to pay attention to the overseas situation and petroleum coke imports.

Overall market trading activity was sluggish. At month-end, the market maintained a steady posture, watching for the outcome of the new round of aluminum fluoride tender prices. However, as the raw material side showed signs of easing, prices are expected to be slightly under pressure next month. Going forward, close attention should continue to be paid to dynamic changes on the raw material cost side, as well as marginal adjustments in the procurement pace of downstream aluminum enterprises.
