“SMM Commentary: Iron production hits six-month low, port inventories continue to rise, iron ore falls for the fourth consecutive time!” Iron ore has been on a downward trend, experiencing a fourth consecutive decline. As of the daytime closing on the 10th, the main iron ore contract was reported at 962 yuan/ton, a 3.02% decrease. According to SMM, steel mills are experiencing losses, with an increasing number of blast furnaces nearing the Spring Festival maintenance plan, resulting in a decrease in blast furnace operating rates. This week, iron production reached a new six-month low, and iron ore demand has declined. Additionally, SMM has observed a significant increase in the arrival of iron ore inventories at 35 tracked ports, leading to a continued accumulation of port inventories, which is a major factor in the decline of iron ore.
