Sodium: Substitution Effect Expected to Expand to Over 1 Million Tons"
Recently, researchers from the University of Maryland in the United States published in the journal "Energy & Environmental Science" their research findings on a new solid-state sodium battery architecture. This architecture uses sodium superionic conductor materials and employs sodium metal as the negative electrode, achieving a record-breaking solid-state sodium-metal cycling rate at room temperature. According to the data, by 2035, sodium is expected to replace approximately 272,000 tons of lithium demand. If lithium supply cannot meet the demand, the substitution effect is expected to further expand to over 1 million tons.
