Six Chinese companies were among top 10 global energy storage system suppliers in 2023H1

According to SMM statistics, the global energy storage system shipments in 2023H1 reached 72.4 Gwh. China’s shipments were 47Gwh, accounting for 65%; overseas shipments were 25.4Gwh, accounting for 35%; global energy storage system shipments were still dominated by Chinese integrators. Tesla’s shipments in the first half of the year exceeded 7Gwh, ranking first in the world.

According to SMM statistics, the global energy storage system shipments in 2023H1 reached 72.4 Gwh. China’s shipments were 47Gwh, accounting for 65%; overseas shipments were 25.4Gwh, accounting for 35%; global energy storage system shipments were still dominated by Chinese integrators. Tesla’s shipments in the first half of the year exceeded 7Gwh, ranking first in the world.




The top 10 suppliers were Tesla, BYD, Sungrow, HyperStrong, Nextera, Huawei, Fluence, Powin, KEHUA TECH and Narada. Shipments from the top 3 suppliers Tesla, BYD, and Sungrow were more than 7Gwh in the first half of the year. Directly reaching the user end through automobile sales outlets and other channels, Tesal and BYD formed a good sales channel, and their shipments were among the best; the shipments of the top 4-10 suppliers were 2.5-4Gwh, including domestic and overseas sales, though system integration.


In the first half of 2023, domestic energy storage system shipments reached 47Gwh. The top 10 companies shipped cargoes of nearly 34Gwh, accounting for about 70%; other domestic companies shipped about 13Gwh, accounting for 30%. The shipments of BYD and Sungrow were close, and stood at nearly 7Gwh in the first half of the year, accounting for as high as 30%. Shipments from the top 5-10 suppliers accounted for 3-5%.

In the first half of 2023, the total shipment volume of overseas companies was lower than that of domestic companies, and was about 25Gwh. Shipments from Tesla, the top 1 supplier in the first half of the year exceeded 7Gwh, accounting for 20% of overseas companies’ shipments. The total shipments from the top 2 supplier Nextera, the top 3 supplier Fluence and the top 4 supplier Powin were about 3Gwh. The shipments of other overseas companies in the first half of the year were about 1Gwh.
