Italian stainless steel producer Acciai Speciali Terni (AST) plans to temporarily suspend production from July 19 to August 23.
The period of downtime has been extended from the traditional summer shutdown of August 7 to August 20, about 15 days longer than in previous years, due to high energy costs, weak sales as well as lower orders and prices.
During the downtime, the company will implement equipment maintenance work.
According to foreign media data, the annual production capacity of AST is about 1 million mt, and the extension of the summer break may affect the monthly output by about 30,000-40,000 mt year-on-year.
